Flick to the flack.jpg

So everybody wants their kids to have the best, but realistically we know they would probably lose a good watch in seconds if you purchased one. Swatch group introduces FLICK FLACK just in time! A Swiss made kids watch that can take a beating and let those kids run in style. If you still have that Thompson Twin, Swatch Watch, 80’s collector in you, hit these up for your kids. Hysek Jumps The Hour

JUMP into style.png

Jorg Hysek designs have always been on the cutting edge for pens, watches etc. Now it looks to have really pushed there watch movements to new heights. I have not laid eyes on any exploded drawings or caliber info, but I look forward to seeing them. Very sharp looking timepiece. The dial is outstanding going from busy to plain. CTWG
“The movement is entirely manufactured at HYSEK’s own workshop outside of Geneva, Switzerland. The movement has been perfected and the IO Jumping Hour has achieved the highest standards for its fit and finish.” Jeff Roth President LWR Time.

Tavannes Ad From Years Ago….

Neat little blurb from the tube that has a French Flim vibe, since we just talked about Tavannes. You can see how far they really go back. CTWG

TAVANNES WATCH CO?

1906_Nov_21_Travannes.jpg

Tavannes “Ta-Von” watches have started to hit the watch market again? A blast from the past? Kinda, Tavannes is a re-release name, but owned by an outstanding gentlemen from Switzerland that had great interest in Cyma Watches for years. Take the watch guy’s word, some great things will be coming from this company soon! I had some sneak peaks at the product and all I can say is WAIT! Solid construction, and new inovative ideas will put them on the map again soon. Check their site for more details! TAVANNE CTWG

Perrelet Turbine

So what’s a Turbine for real? A turbine really is a mechanism that draws from air and or sometimes water for power. The relationship and marriage of the mechanism to power is perfect for watches and what better name for a watch than TURBINE. Check the video and new release from our friends at Perrelet, they are making fresh moves in the industry. CTWG

U.K. Acts The Part!

U.K. watch men.jpgBOnd James BOnd.jpgMan watches.jpg

If you want to move some watches, put them on a U.K. actor’s wrist. Time and history have proved that the watches and tough guy-Brits (substitute Scottish, Irish) go hand in hand, driving watch sales. I too find the “Bond Appeal” a selling point. New guys on the scene like Jason Statham have sported high dollar timepieces, making them more desirable in the marketplace. Product placement, a good accent and square jaw=watch sales. Cheerio CTWG

So Long To The Serti?

IMG_1901.jpg

Rolex has been weeding out some of the old time watches for a fresh look into the future. I hear the “Serti” meaning set in French, dial Submariner has hit the block also! This is a watch I have always liked, but change is good and it will drive the price of this watch up soon. So keep your Serti dials, they will be missed. CTWG

Thanks Again For Watches and Wine!

event3.jpg

“It was possible to sip every second at the Watches & Wine 2009 event at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. The event, co-sponsored by Henne Jewelers, Simpson & McCrady, Fifth Third Bank, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, Grossman Yanak, and Ford, treated 100 guests to wine and hors d’oeuvres, and a presentation by Henne Jewelers’ “Chad the Watch Guy.” The team at Henne Jewelers says the museum was a great location for the event. “The Carnegie Museum really stepped up to show people that they aren’t just a museum, but also a great venue for entertaining clients and hosting cocktail parties,” says John Henne, owner of Henne Jewelers. ” From: Whirl Magazine CTWG

It’s All Down Hill From Here?

summit_mk-namgel-kc.jpg

So after you summit Everest, the mother of all mothers, what do you do with yourself? Everything must be boring after the event. I would tell everyone I climbed Everest, check-out people at the Grocery, everyone. Well, good luck coming down from that high, Mike.

Thank you all that attended and heard my lecture at Watches and Wine 2009. The event went excellent and we look forward to it again next year. If your have not had a chance go take a look at the H.J. Heinz collection of pocket watches, it is quite nice, and very opulent. CTWG
