The Zinex Has Landed!

Zinex

I just received the NEW limited edition Zinex watch. I love it. A real monster at 47mm, it is put together quite well. The dark dial has a real industrial look and provides great contrast to the logo and markers. Super-lumi dial is beautifully understated to offset the size of the piece. The crown alone is 10.5mm –thats big folks– real big. There are no knocks on this piece, sapphire crystal, 250 grams of 316L stainless, the list goes on. As a watch introduction it is a solid, workhorse watch, ETA 2824 all the fixings, get one of the 100 made in this edition. Two crowns up! CTWG

Sir Ernest Has Got The Artic Blues

New

Kobold revives a favorite, with the Sir Ernest Shackleton Old Explorer’s model. If you remember the original, it featured that beautiful flesh tone dial. Now you can enjoy the smokin’ Artic blue. Michael Kobold, known for his more industrial hard German look, does a great job with this subtle dress/casual throw back timepiece. A hand-wound, Swiss-made movement, caliber K.348 (modified Unitas 6497) powers the Sir Ernest and is a technological marvel. The movement has been re-engineered to display a large center second hand and features traditional decorations, such as Geneva stripes on the bridges and an engine-turned surface. The Unitas 6497 has been a great movement for many companies, but the dressing on the Kobold is the best I have witnessed with this movement. 40+mm for the big case lovers , and limited to 50 pieces! CTWG has one for sale(so far)… first come, first serve. Locate yours quick, they won’t stay on the market long! CTWG

Walk Before You Run

Nomos

As you may have noticed, I love the German watches. On a Factory tour to Glashutte Original in East Germany I peered down the street and discovered a small factory producing a beautiful product, Nomos. After further investigation, I have fallen in love with the line and it’s value. I looked at the complete offering in Basel and enthusiastically decided to carry them. This watch oozes value and is a great starter timepiece for anyone training to run with the big dogs. Stay posted for more Nomos news. CTWG

Always Listen to the Bigg Man

Basel
John, center, ready to guzzle a litre of Lowenbrau. CHEERS!

John Biggs is a writer type out of New York City, I hope my fellow watch geeks will take a shining to his reviews as I have. His specialty is tech styles, unlike myself, who wishes all watches came with a crank. Check him out and give him props on good journalism. Search his archives for the Glashuette watch trip, I tagged along on that one, observing how a quality watch is really born. CTWG

Spring is the time for watches and I am recently back from Basel and will be talking in-depth about my watch crusade. Many new watch models and styles are entering the market and I will be your link to the industry. Think of me as Chad the insider, the guy who sheds light on some of the industry jargon, trends, and even tackles some of the industry problems.

This is a NEW blog, so my fellow watch lovers come forth, show your colors, and lend your two cents, I will be checking to see who really wants to talk shop, and find the right timepiece for themselves. All styles, brands, and flavors can be represented here. Ask away! I hope my experience in the industry will be of use to the masses. Some links have been posted, and more will surely follow, you will see my favorite timepieces and why I believe them to be the “Best of the Best”. Check back, pick my brian, I mean brain, and for once feel confident about that watches you buy for your collection. CTWG
