You shouldn’t have!

The wrong watch for xmas.jpg

The image of a nice watch is different to each person or purchaser. Please take note this holiday season to write down what your spouse or loved one wants. To receive a nice timepiece can be great, but to peer at the limited edition Audubon Society Tweetmaster 2000 when you wanted a Breitling Blackbird, well it is tough to look excited. Please send your horrible watch stories to…. CTWG

Jacob the Jeweler Gets Pinched!

jacob-the-jeweler.jpg

“JACOB THE JEWELER” Pleads Guilty
“Jacob the Jeweler” of Jacob & Co. a celebrity jeweler who put diamonds on celebrities from Elton John to Kanye West pleaded guilty Wednesday to falsifying records and giving false statements to investigators looking into a multistate drug ring.

Terms of the plea deal call for Jacob Arabov of New York to serve up to 46 months in prison and pay a $2 million penalty, U.S. Attorney Stephen J. Murphy said in a news release. No sentencing date was immediately set by U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn.

In return for the guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to drop money laundering charges against the man known in the hip-hop world as ‘Jacob the Jeweler,’ said Arabov’s attorney, Benjamin Brafman.

Falsifying records does not sound like a charge that should receive 46 months in prison, but I guess we will see.CTWG

Mont Blanc To Produce Movements?

Villeret.jpg
Pictured Mont: Blanc Le Locle Factory

Mont Blanc has purchased Villeret movement factory and it your guess what they will do with it? The underated timepiece has the makings to take off, but just has not got a break in the American market. The Villeret purchase may be the ticket to put Mont Blanc on the Haute Horologie map. Stay tuned. CTWG

Here are some shots of the Wheeler Clan on their Kobold excursion. The Koboldians had some custom watches put together and enjoyed the whole experience.

A Visit From Koboldians!

Resized Alien.jpg

“Bring us to your watches” the Koboldians cry, after a long trip from Kentucky to Pittsburgh, PA. Kobold watch fans Chris and Jeff Wheeler made the trip and brought their Father to see an actual Kobold dealer in person and paw some watches. After a stop at Henne Jewelers they were off to the Mothership Kobold Watch Co. More sightings and details of their trip to follow! CTWG

The Sleeper Brand

17327.JPG

You ever find that brand that really does not stand out, but holds its own pound for pound? Cyma would be that brand, always on the Swiss watch radar, yet, running low key and reasonable. Cyma, like the Swiss, is respected, quiet and in the middle of the watch groups. The brand never surfaces too high or too low. Check them out, I guarantee there is a model you would like. It won’t be your favorite watch, but you will get tons of wear from it, with sound results. CTWG

The Touching Campanola

Camponoal.jpg

I never have been a big quartz watch lover, Breitling Aerospace, a Locman or two. I have a few nice quartz pieces, I dig the Locman watches, some tech. watches, but I have never been drawn to the dark side as much as this Campanola. I read the article in Watch Time about the dude that went over the edge on the pieces, and I feel for him. I feel myself wanting one also, quartz or not. I will never give up my automatic pieces, still the little fingers of the Asian man lacquering the dial on the Campanola till his tips wore away! Magic! CTWG

Who can see through the clouds?

IWC Glashutte.jpg

Pilots watches, I love them! Many of my fellow watch collectors share this appreciation also, still if you think the best is IWC please re-adjust your thought process. Several companies make the Pilot look and I like a great deal of them, just not the IWC. IWC is over priced!….
Look at the movement picture above-On the left Glashütte Original on the right IWC. A Picture may be worth a thousand words, but a 2892 ETA is not worth $5000.00+. Buy a Fortis easyreader-Fleiger and then save for the Glashütte, it will be worth it in the long run. CTWG
