Master Of The Flying Guilloche

Flying

I awoke to a disturbing sight, two cheeseballs on shop NBC pitching watches. If that wasn't bad enough, they insist on using industry terms and jargon to confuse one watch quality with the next. Then they dropped the word "Guilloche!” Now guilloche my friends is an art unto itself, a technique used on watch dials, fine silver pieces, frames, guns etc… Beautiful patterns are meticulously carved into metal using an old rose machine –one that has not been manufactured in over fifty years. You can count master guillocheurs on one hand, and none have the ability to “mass” produce. Even high-end companies like Chronoswiss stamp their dials to mimic an original guilloche style. A stamped dial is certainly not guilloche, so when you hear these industry terms on the ticktock shows… take it with a large grain of salt. CTWG
