Here is a watch I saw in Basel at the Eterna/Porsche design section of the show. It is a 46MM Monster! Equipped with a ETA 2897, this big dog would be a shoe-in for multiple sales in the United States, right? NO! As of last spring, no United States distributor. I hope this watch makes it stateside soon either by raft or not. Eterna is another great company with poor American distributorship picks. With virtually no U.S. brand recognition anymore, what are we to do with companies like this? Oddly enough you can get Porsche Design in the states, just not Eterna. Huh? CTWG

[…] The KonTiki Diver from Eterna, however, is clever for much more than just its ocean depths survival skills. […]

    Chad:

Are there any reputable overseas dealers where the Eterna Kontiki 1000 meter diver can be purchased? What is the retail price? Thanks.

    Hmmm,

If this is the case, maybe my source may be misinformed also, but they are a dealer and I hope it is true information. I too have been strung along for certain watches, so I will keep you informed. CTWG

Any updates on where or when these watches can be purchased? I saw this one in a watch magazine and I’ve been thinking about it since. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Best,

In 1989, I was given an Eterna Sonic Electronic KonTiki watch-one w/an orange face and a rubber strap. It is in very good condition.
Can you tell me anything about this watch?
    Thank you

It seems like June will come and go and still no Kon Tiki. It seems that Eterna has backed up the release date again. I’m frustrated!

I visited an official retailer shop for Eterna on June 26th when I was in Europe. The store rep. told me that Eterna Kontiki Diver delays were due to a defect in the waterproofing problems in early production watches. The same rep went to Baselworld, said that Eterna was aloof on the release date. Other dealers were clamoring for details, and got nothing. He did tell me that he has a customer flying from the US to pick up one, his latest release date is mid to late July. (Just an estimate, nothing set in stone.) I was hoping to see one in person, but no dice, which to be honest, really annoyed me, but oh well.

The new date has been pushed to Nov. 2007 CTWG Good Luck Folks.

Did I miss a question? Sorry, if I did ! The sonic is an old model from Eterna -circa 1970s so to receive it in 89 was it pre-owned? Is it Electric-like an old Hamilton? Let me Know. CTWG

I own many fine timepieces - Tag Heuer, Ikepod, Longines, Sinn, Omega, Breitling, etc. None are more precise than my modest Eterna-matic It is frustrating that this excellent brand isn’t properly represented on this continent.

ON another note: I agree, a Bell &Ross Sport watch (overall, a well conceived collection) should not offer a tourbillon, Fonzi surely is having a laugh…

Well check out Eterna’s site. The Kontiki Diver is finally on it. Not sure if that means it’s for sale, or that it’s forthcoming.

I would love to see this watch in person. I live in upstate NY, about 2.5 hrs from Eterna’s only NA dealer, in Mississauga Ontario, but from what I hear you have to special order it. This is something I can’t do unless I see the watch first in person.

  • 23. Jim  |  November 13th, 2007 at 4:53 pm

Yes, I noticed that it has made an appearance on Eterna’s website, as well. I also found a website (forumamontres) where a guy in Paris reviews the KonTiki Diver that he received (he says it was just released there). The review was done on October 30. He took many pictures (on and off the wrist) of this watch. It looks very cool, indeed! Chad, any news on the release to the rest of the world? I am keeping my fingers crossed that the time has finally come. I am one of the guys that has been waiting for over a year and a half for its release. Thanks!

  • 24. Chad  |  November 13th, 2007 at 10:39 pm

I am on it, hopefully I will know soon!

  • 25. Jim  |  December 11th, 2007 at 2:57 pm

    Chad,

Check out the Eterna website (eterna.ch). Not only are they listing this watch as part of the KonTiki collection, there is a new authorized US dealer listed (First SBF Holding, Monsey, NY).

I finally found a retailer with the Kon Tiki Diver in stock.

    http://www.gemnation.com/base?processor=viewWatchDetails&watch_id=2530

    That’s rich!

  • 27. Nick  |  January 7th, 2008 at 6:28 pm

I’ve seen it on gemnation for a while now, back in Feb-March of 2007, the price was supposed to be ~$4000. The last part of 2007, the price was increased to about $6000. Now it’s over $9,000.

I realize the dollar has been dropping and the delays for the watch have been costly. Don’t know if this price is the original asking price from Eterna or an updated higher price.

Either way it has climbed out of my price level. ;-( I’ll be in NYC in early March, and I think I’m going to try to visit gemnation to check it out, and the new dealer near NY as well, just to see the darn thing finally in person. (hopefully one or both places will have it on hand.)
